Solid Rock Cooks Culinary Arts Program

The Solid Rock Cooks Culinary Arts Program is a multi-year program for high school students. This exciting opportunity will allow students to earn career certifications while focusing on plant-based cooking, preparing them for a thriving industry.

Throughout the program, students will learn a variety of valuable culinary and hospitality skills, including:

  • Mastery of plant-based culinary techniques
  • Knife skills and kitchen safety
  • Baking and pastry arts
  • Food presentation and plating
  • Cooking methods and techniques (sautéing, roasting, grilling, etc.)
  • Recipe development and adaptation
  • Knowledge of nutrition and health benefits of plant-based diets
  • Food safety and sanitation practices
  • Menu planning and cost management
  • Hospitality and customer service skills
  • Taking orders and serving customers
  • Using a cash register and handling transactions
  • Event planning and execution

Students will receive culinary training, work under the direct supervision of the school chefs, and participate in school lunch and special event operations. They will gain hands-on experience in a real-world kitchen environment, learning the importance of teamwork, time management, and professional communication. Additionally, students will have opportunities to:

  • Assist in menu planning for school lunches and special large events
  • Prepare and serve meals for all sorts of atmospheres
  • Manage inventory and food storage
  • Engage in community outreach through cooking demonstrations and events
  • Attend workshops and guest lectures from industry professionals

Depending on their year of entry (10th-12th grade), students will have the opportunity to earn various hours of practicum experience and certifications, providing them with a competitive edge in the culinary and hospitality fields.
