Since 2004, Solid Rock Community School—a 501(c)(3) non-profit K-12 private school in Tarpon Springs, Florida—has been on a transformative journey. Over the years, we’ve grown into a leading institution that integrates holistic wellness, sustainable living, humane education, compassion, and inclusion into every aspect of our curriculum. We are incredibly proud to be one of only a few schools in the world to offer an exclusive plant-based kitchen, and the only one that infuses humane education and environmental stewardship into everything we do. Our mission goes beyond academics. In 2023, we expanded our approach with the launch of The Sanctuary at Solid Rock, a 2-acre campus dedicated to providing lifelong care for animals while serving as a powerful teaching tool for our students.
At Solid Rock, we believe that animals are some of the best teachers. Our sanctuary provides a hands-on learning environment where students:
Develop empathy and compassion by caring for animals and understanding their needs.
Learn responsibility and teamwork as they collaborate on daily tasks to ensure the well-being of the sanctuary’s residents.
Connect with nature and gain a deeper understanding of the role animals play in our ecosystems, promoting respect for all living beings.
Experience real-world lessons in subjects like biology, veterinary science, and environmental sustainability through direct interaction with animals.
By incorporating the sanctuary into our curriculum, we help students foster a sense of respect, care, and interconnectedness that extends beyond the classroom—lessons that will stay with them for a lifetime.

This exciting project will include: Eco-Wellness Facilities: An indoor space, outdoor trails, and areas for physical education, gardening, and nature exploration, creating a space where students can connect with their health and the environment. Animal Care Building: Featuring a veterinary lab, grooming lab, and wildlife rehabilitation center. This facility will also provide hands-on learning opportunities and support teaching vocational careers focused on compassionate animal care and advocacy. Animal Education Sanctuary: Including a barn, indoor enclosures, and outdoor habitats, providing lifelong care to animals while educating students about ethical treatment, empathy, and respect for all living beings. Improved Infrastructure: Expanded parking, an improved car loop, and additional green spaces to enhance accessibility and functionality. This expansion reflects our dedication to cultivating a learning environment that encourages students to care for their planet, their communities, and all beings with compassion and respect.
