In August of 2023, Solid Rock Community School is launching a three-year, hands-on animal rescue and care program for students in grades 10-12.
Tarpon Springs, FL, June 22, 2023 – Solid Rock Community School is launching a program for high school students who want to learn about animal care and veterinary education. The SAVE program, short for Sanctuary for Animals and Veterinary Education, is partnering with local colleges and animal organizations to provide interested students with hands-on experience in the fields of animal rescue and conservation. Students in grades 10-12 can participate in the program and will gain experience in and/or earn career certificates in numerous animal care skills.
They will work with animal experts and learn about topics such as veterinary medicine, wildlife conservation, and habitat creation. The program will involve animals of different types and sizes, from hedgehogs to cows to small monkeys. Each of the animals that students work with will find their forever homes at the Sanctuary at Solid Rock campus. Parents of students in grades 10 and above with a strong interest in animal welfare, animal conservation, and veterinary medicine are encouraged to reach out to Solid Rock Community School for more information on the SAVE program. It is recommended that interested parties reach out as soon as possible as space is limited to ensure a low teacher-student ratio.
